02 · Data Centers + Community Power

Community power over the decisions that shape our neighborhoods.

Major data center development raises real questions about energy, water, land, and who gets a say. We're building the tools for Raleigh to participate in those decisions.

Take Action

Now

Speak up before April.

Raleigh has paused major data-center approvals while it writes new rules. Council, the Planning Commission, and a public hearing all take input between now and April 6. Here's how to be part of it.

How to make your voice heard

A

Speak at City Council

  • Public comment is generally on the 2nd Tuesday (7 p.m.) and the 3rd Tuesday (during the 1 p.m. session).
  • Sign up by 3 p.m. the Friday before, online or by calling the City Clerk at 919-996-3040.
  • Sign-up closes when the cap is reached: 108 speakers on 2nd Tuesdays, 50 on 3rd Tuesdays.
  • Check the City's page for current rules before you go.

B

Speak at the Planning Commission

  • Meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 9 a.m. The City says residents can watch or speak at the December and January data-center review meetings.
  • Agendas post on Thursdays. Presentation files are due by 5 p.m. the Friday before; that is not a general speaker sign-up deadline.
  • Written comments: Planning.Commission@raleighnc.gov

C

Follow the Text Change Committee

  • Reviews potential changes to the zoning code (UDO). Usually the 3rd Wednesday at 4 p.m., as needed, in Room 305.
  • Not every meeting will cover data centers, and the City hasn't promised speaking time.
  • To take part, email Justin.Bucher@raleighnc.gov with your name, address, and the case.

D

Comment online

  • The City expects to post the draft rules in its Text Change portal around Nov. 16, with about two weeks for comments.
  • The City hasn't announced a closing date. YAP! won't guess one.
  • Join the City's email list to hear when the comment period opens.
