Raleigh Youth Power

Privacy Notice

In plain language.

This campaign organizes young people and the people who support them. We take that seriously. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and how to get your data removed.

What we collect

Depending on which form you use, we collect only:

  • Petition: first name, last name, email, ZIP code, your role (e.g. student, parent, educator), an optional message, and whether you consent to updates.
  • City Council pledge: name, email, ZIP code, an optional phone number, which actions you're pledging to take, and an optional guest count.
  • Public comment builder: your answers to the builder questions and, only if you separately opt in, the finished comment text plus a name/email so we can follow up.

We deliberately do not collect: your exact age, school name, home address, immigration status, medical information, or any other information about minors beyond what's listed above.

Why we collect it

To count how many people support this campaign, to organize turnout for the August 18 City Council meeting, and to help you prepare a public comment. ZIP codes help us understand which neighborhoods are engaged — we never publish or map individual addresses.

Who can access it

Right now, only the campaign's own database dashboard can access this data — protected by its own login, and reachable by no one else. As we bring on more organizers, any new account we create will require multi-factor authentication before it's granted access. Your submission is never publicly visible — the site only ever shows aggregate totals (e.g. “1,204 people have signed”), never individual names, emails, or locations. We do not sell or share this data with any third party.

How it's protected

Every table in our database enforces Row Level Security: the public website can only add new signatures and pledges, never read, list, or export anyone else's submission. The credentials that can read the full data are kept server-side only and are never exposed to the browser.

How long we keep it

We keep campaign data for as long as this campaign is active, plus a reasonable follow-up period afterward, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.

How to request deletion

Email youngamericansprotest@proton.me from the address you signed up with and tell us what to remove — your petition signature, your pledge, or all of it. We'll confirm once it's done.
